Ok so City2Surf has come and gone. I went into the run with a leg injury determined to finish the run. Within 2km of the start I felt like someone was stabbing my left ankle with a knife with every step. So I changed my plan to just walk as fast as I could so that I gave myself the best time possible at the end. At no stage did I contemplate giving up and not completing the run. I finished in 1:58:50 in 48,719 position out of 85,000 starters. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the costumes, the way some larger people can pour themselves into lycra and show off all the excess fat (on a positive note at least they participated). I was asked by friends if I had to do it all over again would I still do it with the injury and I said yes. It was great and I can't wait to do it next year:D After the finish line there is a photo of me with a big grimace on my face and that is how I felt. The pain in the leg was intense and I didn't have painkillers on me I had left them with my luggage, something I wont do next time. The bus and train journey back to my bags was not pleasant but such is life. The support of my team mates - Clare, Simon, Vicki, Tina and Avinash was amazing and I am grateful to them for helping me back to my bags. To say I was slow would be an understatement! So thank you all very much.
I broke my nutrition plan and ate pies. Yep they tasted good at the time but that voice in the back of my head kept screaming at me - what do you think you are doing? my other voice just said I am in pain go away!. So this proves I am human and make poor choices at times.
So now whilst I heal my leg I am strict with nutrition and doing whatever cardio I can that does not impact on my leg. I have lent a bike and started to use it.
So my journey continues with this injury just a bump in the road. I have signed up for city2sea with my daughter and that is in November. Just love to run!

Another 12weeks in my journey.
Ok so today I started another 12week program under the guidance of Josh.
I have set some new goals and for full accountability I will let you all know:
1. Size 10 pants
2. No back fat rolls
3. Able to do a full sit up
4. Have some ab definition.
Ultimately my focus will be on shredding lots of fat and seeing that scale move into the 60's kg range.
From the past 15weeks I know that I can do the nutrition and training. This time I will keep everything extra tight. Do I have events coming up that give me concern? Absolutely but with planning I know I can survive them. City2surf in Sydney is coming up very soon and so I have to be organised for that. Luckily Clare booked accommodation across from a Coles supermarket. Thank you young lady :-)
So now it begins

Perception
This week I have learnt a big lesson about perception. I took my 12week photos and was devastated with what I saw. The frontal photo did not reflect the way I felt. I felt leaner but that is not what I saw and I was very unhappy. The side and back photos certainly showed changes and I was happy with them but I kept looking at that front photo and wondering what I had done wrong, why had the program not done what I hoped it would do.
Poor Josh has since had to listen to me complain about that photo. He really has put things into perspective for me. The gains I have made in all other areas of my health and fitness are more important than that one photo. I have to agree with him. I took my resting heart rate which was 59-62 a huge change from earlier when it was sitting above 100. I no longer take antihypertensive medication and in fact my blood pressure can be a little low at times. I can feel my hip bones and my ribs, I couldn't before. I have not deviated from the MP nutrition and training plan in 12 weeks. I couldn't run 5kms 12weeks ago and now I am not only running 5km but I can run 5km with hills along the way. I have never run 10km under 70mins until recently.
I have also realised that in the last year that I have no photos of me except those taken for body composition in my underwear. So my goal for this month is to take some photos of how people see me so that I can visualise the changes I have made that people say they can see. I was given one the other day and I looked at it and I could see changes.

The journey continues
The first part of my health and fitness journey has nearly finished.
What I have achieved:
I also want to say a big thank you to my trainer Josh Dickinson for working with me, encouraging me, setting me straight and for giving me a push when I needed it. Your guidance is what got me to this point and I think you would have to agree that I look pretty damn good compared to almost 12 weeks ago. Yes MP does work on so many levels!
Thanks also go to my family and friend Pam for putting up with me over the past almost 12 weeks. I know it has been hard that I have needed to eat at different times and train at certain times but you had better get used to it because I love what it does for me mentally and physically. This is the new me and I don't plan on changing back to the old Treena who didn't push herself or commit herself 100%.
Well my journey continues and I will continue to blog. leaner

What I have achieved:
- A new and greater level of fitness than ever before. I have pushed hard each Blitz session and studio training session. I took 9mins off my Nail Can Hill time and for the first time in my life ran 10km under 70mins.
- I have more arm definition than ever before.
- I can fit into size 12 pants without a muffin top. Yes I have not achieved my size 10 pants just yet but I will reach that goal soon.
- MP has become a way of life for me. I do not crave any junk food, I can tolerate the children and hubby having hot chips in the house without wanting to eat them. They eat ice-cream and chocolate and it no longer bothers me.
- Getting out and going for a run by myself does not seem pointless or stupid.
- I ran 6.5km without walking for the first time ever.

Fun Run and Bench Press
What a week! I have had some fantastic results. I am doing things at 42yrs that I have never done in my life. I have run a 10km fun run in under 70mins and I have bench pressed 38kgs.
I always considered my upper body as being weak. During my time training with Josh I have gone from the light bar with weights to the heavy bar and now the heavy bar with weights. In my dreams I never imagined I would also be lifting dumbbells. Today I used the 17.5kg dumbbells, I have never ever lifted them before and today I was able to do a few reps. To then lift 70kgs on the lat pulldown machine just topped my workout. I am just so happy with my results.
On Sunday there were a group of Blitzers all lined up to do the 10km Rutherglen Muscat Run. When asking people's goals I was asked mine. I flippantly said 75mins, not really thinking I would achieve that goal. Then all of a sudden the gun fired and we were off, no warning, just the gun. Initially Lauren(daughter) and I were the back of the pack with the SES van right behind us. Gradually we worked ourselves up to fifth last. Hills, long slow hills, not my favourite running terrain. Well with each hill I really thought my time was shot and with no water stations in sight I was feeling not the best. Anyway we plodded on and then thought we had become delirious when we spotted a water station at the 6.5km mark. No it wasn't a mirage, it was real! We both enjoyed a drink before continuing on to the next lot of hills. The funniest moment was the 3 old guys at the top of the last hill who said 'only 600metres to go' and 'those last hills are real killers aren't they'. We were too breathless to reply. Seeing Vicki, Glenda, Donna near the finish spurred Lauren and I on the last bit. I was surprised when everyone said our time was in the low 70mins range. Today I was blown away to see that we had run just under 70mins at 69min 21secs. I knew my fitness level had been improving but this was just an acknowledgment of how far I have come in the past 10weeks. I thank all the Blitz gang whom I consider friends for their support and encouragement over the last 10 weeks.

A bit further along in my journey to health and fitness
I have to admit that this week I did not dread the change room at Big W as much as I did last time. I took a few deep breaths and tried on a pair of size 12 cargo pants. The fitted with no muffin top! I showed my mum who was with me and lifted my top to prove no muffin top. For the first time my mum actually commented on how good I was looking and that all the training is paying off. This is a first as up until that point she could never see why I finished work at 10pm and got up at 5am to go training. Maybe this might be a turning point in family support or lack there of as the case has been.
I have a very good week nutritionally. Sticking to the plan is actually quite easy once you get yourself prepared. In training I had legs that did not want to lunge or leg press but were very eager to leg curl and calf raise. Being up with my son who had croup in the middle of the night may have had something to do with it. Any way next week is a new week and I will push on.
Metabolic Blitz training in the mornings is a fantastic start to the day. Everywhere you look you can see the changes in other people's physique and that just spurs you on knowing that this works! I still have a painful lower leg so I am not jump squatting or skipping as I want it to heal. This time last year if you had told me I would be jumping out of bed on many mornings to go to early fitness training I would have thought you were crazy and needed a mental health review. Yet now if I can't make it I really miss it. Those first few weeks of my new program where I had to cut back on my cardio training were hard as I was just so used to getting up and working out hard.
The past couple of weeks have been quite hard emotionally for me due to family stresses and due to this I started to have doubts about lots of things including about my current program. Usually under these circumstances I have been well known to go and find my favourite comfort food and sit at home and eat. Not this time as I had this feeling that whilst other things were going bad my training and nutrition was still on track. I didn't want those poor quality foods to hinder my progress. I could not say that I was hungry and needed food. Eating every 2-3hours really curbs your hunger and cuts out cravings. So up until this point I can honestly say I have not deviated from the plan organised for me by Josh.
Today I start holidays and I see this as a way to reduce my stresses, focus on my training and nutrition and finish some compulsory stuff that I have been procrastinating on. It will be great to be able to collect the children from school and spend a bit more time with them and my darling hubby.

Another week in my journey
Well this past week has been quite a challenge. Training and nutrition has been great but I have gone from being very happy to tears. I keep telling myself the only thing I can control is my nutrition and training and to not let let things get to me that I have no control over.
During the week I got some very upsetting news from my child's school. He was being bullied and was quite depressed about it. My heart just dropped, that a 12year old could be bullied to the point he wanted to hurt himself. Normally I would hit the food big time but not this time. I have moved to a new point where I know that the food will not help me but in fact be a huge setback in my journey, a detour I do not wish to take. Instead I focused on what steps I could take to help my son which was a positive reaction not negative.
I started this week with a painful lower leg and had to go to physiotherapy. After a week of lunges, jump squats, squats, sprints, push ups and skipping I an aching from head to toe. My leg remains painful so much so that next week there will be no skipping or jump squats. It is time to look after it so that it can heal.
Training in the studio was tough. Leg presses with the new change of seat position is just tough and I am making sounds like I never have before. Not very lady like I might add. I am determined to lift 8 clean reps x 2 sets this week. I just need to focus. I will master that incline bench press as well. I just need to focus.
Today my heart is not in it. I am tired, frustrated, fed up and wanting to scream. Scream from pure frustration over many things. Some times I feel like I am living 'Ground Hogs Day' and it can just get to you. There is no fun in my life at this point and that is very sad. I enjoy training, don't get me wrong, but that component of fun is just not there at this time. If I am not training, then I am working or breaking up fights between my boys or running errands or going grocery shopping or trying to catch up on housework.
Does this mean I will not eat properly today, NO! This is my new lifestyle and I wouldn't alter that for anything. After 7 weeks I have no craving for chocolate or any of my old junk food. Will I not turn up to training, NO! I really like Blitz and the boost it gives me for the day and the people at Blitz are so supportive and encouraging!
So here I am 7 weeks down and 5 more to go. I remain focused and can't wait to see the changes my body is undergoing every week. The only thing I need to look into is fun, that will be my next challenge.

Training and Nutrition
Well another busy week is over.
Nutrition has been spot on. Each meal has contained the essential ingredients. Planning my meals and preparing them every morning for the day is becoming routine. My children think I am mad eating all those vegies but that is ok. I think they will like the results and they certainly like their new fitter mum who can keep up with them when we go to the park.
Josh decided to teach me about a whole new level of intensity and pain. Thursday was lower body weight training. Josh loaded the leg press up with my weight amount (200kgs) and 'encouraged' me to push out 15reps. Those last few reps were hard and I may have groaned with the effort but Josh wasn't finished with me yet. He moved the leg press seat further forward, and made me start again.I could only get out another 5 1/2reps but just moving that seat that inch made a whole lot of difference and hurt like anything. My legs were trashed and there was still lunges (my pet dislike), leg curls and calf raises (one of my favourites) to come. I left feeling fantastic and very pleased with my achievements and a not so gentle hum of throbbing legs. Skiing in the hall at Blitz the next morning was a lot of fun but the burpees and jump squats certainly reminded my legs how sore they were but I managed to push through.
Then this morning's workout in the skate bowl was not only fun but exhausting. Skipping (not good at it), sprints, squats and that heavy rope challenge was an awesome workout. Ok the rope wasn't that heavy until you tried flicking it a few times, then your core and arms really felt it. One of the best things about today's workout was teaming up with another Blitzer and encouraging each other ( thanks Tim) as well as others providing encouragement thanks Simon, Tina and Co. I think that's what makes it so easy to get out of bed at 5am or 6am, just knowing that a great group of people will be up and training with you.

Week 6
I have been waiting for this week to come to see my results. I have noticed my stomach has flattened quite a lot over the past few weeks and my work pants reveal my butt is getting smaller or more toned as they are quite loose at the back. Emma who worked on my sore muscles noticed the change in my leg muscle definition so that was great. Another friend made nice comments about my receding stomach apron fat so that was positive. All the Blitzers were making nice comments and being very supportive so that made each training day a positive experience. Thanks girls and guys! Photos of me at the first week and this week show a reduction in back fat, yes as bad as it sounds I do have back fat, at least there is less now.
Well I turned up for my measurements and as usual Josh did them without me seeing them. He took photos, I was wearing my new size 14 crop top which 6 weeks ago didn't fit due to the size of my breasts and I was also wearing a size 14 athletic t-shirt. Anyway the photos were done with me in the crop top. I haven't seen them but I know I look better. Josh then asked me what I would be happy with in the centimetres department. I had not a clue of what number to choose as I hadn't thought about it, so I randomly chose 20cm, a nice round number. Well I got rid of 13.5cm of fat and I am very happy with that as I have worked hard and was hoping for a good number. Just between you and me I was just so relieved to get it over and done with as I was very nervous about what the numbers would be like.
So I am focused and determined for even greater results in the next 6weeks.

Back from the Dark Path
Well after a low start to the week I can say things have been interesting. I chose to not let work and home stresses lead me down the dark path to poor food choices and no exercise. Every morning I was up early preparing my meals for the day, and organising my shakes for training. I had Friday off Blitz as per my training plan so I went for a walk. Some prophetic words from Josh at the start of this program became my mantra for the week which helped me to remain focused on my end goal and not let other strersses interfere in reaching my goals. These words were 'the only thing you can control each day is your nutrition and exercise' and 'every rep counts'. So no matter what else was happening this week I made sure I got my training in and that I ate 6 metabolically precise meals each day.
The cold weather has added a new element to training and eating. It would be so easy to stay in bed at 5am and not go to training but then what would that achieve, nothing. I have never been so cold and I think losing my insulation might have something to do with it. Salads are not as appealing when your freezing (cause you cant put the heater on because the hubby hasn't covered the swampy). I am enjoying salmon with vegetables at the moment. Admittedly the vegies are frozen and zapped in the microwave but that suits my shift worker lifestyle. I usually eat most meals alone and cutting up a bunch of vegetables just seems like a waste of time to me.
A quick thank you to everyone who has been supporting and encouraging me. It really helps when you hear from others that they can see changes either in your body shape or your fitness levels as sometimes I can't see it. When you can't see it then your mind starts to sing some negative tunes and that just adds to the stress and can send you back down the dark path. I got a comment from a friend I have not seen for 2 months 'look at you, your stomach apron fat doesn't sit on your legs anymore'. Now as I am quite apple shaped that was a huge compliment.
Week 6 begins tomorrow and that means body composition measurements for the half way point. Always nervous when it comes to being measured.

The Highs and Lows
Today has been a very low day for me, probably the lowest I have been in a long time. I have to admit that at the beginning of my training session today I almost started crying. Could you just imagine Josh's face if I had? The cause of my low are many little things combining to push me over the edge. I will say that turning up to training and pushing myself did help my mood.
Some of the things I realised today were:
I must say a big thank you to Pam for putting up with me this morning and encouraging me.

Some of the things I realised today were:
- running away from home is probably not an option
- i need to stop letting negative people upset me
- i need to focus on myself and put me first
- Nutrition and training are the only two things that I can really control on a day to day basis.
- I have worked too hard on improving my health to ruin all my effort by making unhealthy food choices.
- i need a holiday from work
I must say a big thank you to Pam for putting up with me this morning and encouraging me.

Well I have had a great week with fitting into size 12 jeans with a muffin top, almost vomiting at Blitz on Wednesday, and had my legs smashed during lower body weight training with Josh on Thursday. I had a light intensity activity day on Friday so I went for a walk.
Saturday was very interesting. Started with a great lower body circuit with the Blitz team at 7am, dash home to eat and organise my meals for the day as I had to go to work in the afternoon and then head back to Wodonga for push ups for charity challenge. I set myself a target of 50 push ups a feat I had not managed, ever. In the middle of my 90seconds I developed a pounding headache due to a sinus infection but I continued on and surprised myself with 52 push ups. I was happy to hear that everyone who participated beat their set targets. A great effort to everyone involved. I skipped the BBQ and rushed home to get ready for work and eat an MP meal. When I got to work and sat down to listen to handover I realised I was just a bit tired and that I was in for a long night.
Some of the things I experienced at work on Saturday night and how I reacted to them have totally changed since I first began training with Physique Essentials. 12months ago I would have run away from conflict, not stood up for myself and not feel confident in dealing with senior doctors, other nurses and difficult relatives. Not last night and the one reason that I know is true: with my increased fitness and body composition changes I feel more confident and feel that people listen to me more now than they did when I was fatter. Along with my physical changes there has been many mental changes. I think I am mentally stronger now and as I push my body to do things I have never done before it flows over into other areas of my life. A very positive side effect of training.
This morning was the 5km Mothers Day Classic Run in Wodonga. Me, my husband, 3 children and my mother all entered this event. I have never run for more than 2km straight without stopping to walk and the same can be said for my daughter. My mum, hubby and two boys walked the course whilst Lauren and I set out with the runners. Somehow it all clicked into place during the first part of the run and Lauren and I got into a rhythm and did not walk except at the drink stations whilst we were drinking water. We were both so happy and even with dodging around the walkers it was a fantastic moment to cross the line after the last lap and know that we had done our very best run. A very happy moment for me and I was ever so proud of my daughter. After having my post workout shake Lauren and I found the rest of the family and we walked the last of their race with them. My mum had very painful feet but she persisted and finished that race. I am so proud of her! The boys and hubby still had energy to spare but they did it and that is what was important.

Braving Public Change Rooms
What a morning. Started with a very intense Metabolic Blitz session. Sprinting and skipping and if you mucked up the skipping then you had to do a burpee. Lets just say I did a fair few burpees, skipping is not my strong point. Halfway through the session I had visions of me vomiting so went outside during my skipping time. I just kept pushing hard whilst picturing me in size 10 jeans. I cannot remember ever wearing size 10 clothing so this is not only a challenging goal but also a dream of mine.
Having survived Blitz with stomach contents intact I met up with a friend after doing the school run for coffee. She has the coffee and I have the bottle of water. I decided that even though I had some size 12 pants at home that I could do up, with a muffin top showing, that I should try on some of the latest jeans to check my progress. I personally hate changing in those change rooms especially when the 'thin' people come in and put on a real small size and complain how fat they have got. It makes me want to give them a reality slap 'hello size 8 is not fat'. I am sure others have met these people in the change rooms. Anyway I took the size 12 jeans in, a bit anxious that they wouldn't even do up, oh okay I was extremely anxious after all my goal is size 10 in 8 more weeks! Well they did up, my friend used my camera to take a photo to prove it! Yes I have a funny looking muffin top but they still did up without me having to grab a coat hanger and lay on the floor whilst taking deep breaths and sucking in my guts for all they are worth. Don't laugh, desperate people have done that, at home, not in public but I suppose it depends how desperate you are. Not me though just my sister who is younger than me, was thinner than me, and she did this all the time. I don't think I could have been bothered with the pain from wearing such tight clothing but she did.
Yesterday was my upper body training day and Josh pushed me to my limits. As I sit here typing I can feel the ache from working those muscles hard. Change is happening, yippee :-)

After Nail Can Hill
So I have completed the Nail Can Hill Race with The Physique Essential Team. After the initial setback of my daughter hurting her ankle and feeling sick (she retired from the race) I forged ahead and kept telling myself I could do this and set a better time than last year. I spent more time running this year due to my increased fitness courtesy of Josh and Metabolic Blitz. Previous to working with Josh and his team I was a weight watcher and my old leader and I have a rivalry with this race. She has only ever beaten me once and that was last year and boy did I hear about it for weeks afterwards. As I was dealing with my daughter she patted me on the butt and overtook me. With pushing hard I caught her and passed her at the last drink station. By this stage I was very tired but nothing like a bit of rivalry to add life to the old legs. So not only did I beat her but I beat my previous time by 9mins. Both of these made me very happy.
Rocking up to Blitz training this morning I had hope that Josh would take it a bit easy due to residual soreness in my butt and hamstrings/hip. No such mercy was shown and the next 20mins were one of the hardest workouts I have ever done. At least I was not the only Nail Can Hill runner feeling it. I have to admit that halfway through the workout I wanted to tell Josh where to go and stop. The old me would have definitely quit when the going got tough but the new me just thought 'suck it up' and 'size 10 jeans'.

Each Rep Counts
I have been very organised lately and planning my meals at the start of the day or even the night before. Doing this I know what I am doing and leaving nothing to chance. I am weighing my protein portions to my requirements and the amount of salmon I need to eat is remarkable. Weighing really opens your eyes up to just how much or how little you need.
I went to training yesterday morning to do upperbody lifting. Josh said remember 'every rep counts'.As I was working on improving my breathing and form with each lift I didn't give this a lot of thought until later. That was when I realised what an important statement this was, not just in lifting but in life in general. Every day, every action I take is an important step in this journey towards not only my fitness and body composition goals but also in working towards my other goals. Every action I do or not do is important to my overall plan.
At work yesterday one of the girls said to me 'how long are you going to keep all this up' referring to my training and shakes. I actually looked at her and said this is my lifestyle now, it doesn't stop and I really meant it. Her reply 'but those shakes can't really be nice, can they?' so all she was really focused on was my afternoon tea shake because it was different, as she was scoffing some high fat junk food. At one time I may have missed having that kind of food but now it just doesn't bother me. As the girls sat eating nachos at dinner last night all I could think of was look at all that fat in the cheese etc. At the time I was eating salmon and vegies, very nice!

Finding support and Sticking to the Plan
Well after my success in overcoming obstacles I had a couple of down days. This was due to rude people, unsupportive family members, and finally waking up to how much a couple of people have been using me lately. Usually at this point I turn to comfort food, the type that is definitely not on my new eating plan. Then I remembered something my trainer said to me last week 'the only two things you can control is your eating and your training'. He was right no matter what others are doing to me eating poorly isn't going to affect them in any way but would ruin all the effort I have put in to becoming a leaner healthier version of me. So I have continued on eating according to my plan. No junk has gone into this body.
I have to say that yesterday the last thing I wanted to do was go train all I wanted to do was curl up in bed and tell the world to go away! Yet off to training I went and after a hard leg session and some more nutritional information I felt much better. Must have been the endorphins and the great company of Josh and Clare. Even though Clare wouldn't play understudy for my lunges, lol.
This morning I went to Metabolic Blitz training and the group were very supportive and for that I am grateful. Thanks gang :-). After a killer leg workout yesterday this morning was lunges and squat jumps with push ups and sprints. It didn't take long for my legs to burn but I kept focused. I also do not do star jumps so much to the amusement of others I did psuedo star jumps (bit like step aerobics). At least I did something at that spot.
Here is to a great week. I have Nail Can Hill Race coming up so that should be fun. I don't plan on winning it, I will leave that to my other team mates but I will try hard to smash my previous time of 97mins.

Overcoming Obstacles
I knew today was going to be interesting and have several obstacles to overcome.
The first obstacle was the Easter Bunny and all that chocolate that is delivered to dads and children. I left a note requesting my Easter eggs to be given to someone who really needs them so that would mean no eggs for me. Problem solved or so I thought but I didn't count on my daughter and husband. My daughter took her mini solid eggs and rubbed them on my cheek asking me if I wanted one, taunting me to throw my nutrition plan out the window. I told her to take them away and to never do it again! Shortly afterwards my hubby came out with a Cadbury egg and held a piece close to my face offering it to me. My response to him was a little more blunt and rude. So obviously supporting my efforts is not important on Easter Sunday!
The second obstacle was Erik's birthday party. Plenty of chips and chocolates. I took my pepsi max, a shake and water. As we had his party in the park I went for walks around the park to keep my mind focused on great nutrition. So I enjoyed my shake whilst they ate the birthday cake and sipped on my drinks whilst I was around the chocolate and chips. So far so good but I knew that I still had the buffet meal to come.
The third and final obstacle I had was the buffet. This is normally very hard for me as I have a sweet tooth and love desserts. So tonight I did not even acknowledge the dessert section and I focused on the vegetables and proteins. I loaded my plate up with beans, broccoli (lots), cucumber, carrot, salad onion, baby corn and topped it all off with a serve of beef. I ate it slowly whilst my family had their meals and desserts. I had my fish oil tablets in my bag so that made the whole meal very precise. As I walked out with the family I couldn't help but feel wonderful that I had actually not strayed or even felt tempted. A big breakthrough for me:)
I have now proven to myself that I can do anything I really set my mind on. I have really struggled in the past with belief in myself. I know at times I have been my own worst enemy with doubting my ability to achieve things for example getting rid of the fat, improving my self through further education, improving my fitness and even when I was trying to get my drivers licence. So to not fall at the obstacles today has boosted my self confidence big time! I feel fantastic!

Accountability
Almost two weeks into this latest 12 week goal period and I am so happy with my results to this point. I can see and feel changes in my body, my mindset and my fitness. I tried on a pair of size 12 jean shorts that I have not been able to wear for years and they fit! Ok so i had a bit of a muffin top but they did up! That is progress. My work pants are feeling so much looser and are looking a bit baggy in the legs and butt region.
Lots of chocolate at work and I am not even tempted. Even when it is sitting in our medication preparation room I am not tempted! I have worked to hard to throw it away on a momentary taste sensation. I will let the other staff enjoy them.
My trainer said to me the other day that a blog is one way to be more accountable but if you omit any errors in nutrition then it is ineffective. I thought about this statement and then it occurred to me that if i did make unwise choices and not record them here then I still would know. So regardless, I am always accountable to myself and if I don't tell on here, in my heart I will still know that I have let myself down. I hope that makes sense.
Today in training I pushed myself hard and all I could hear over the trainer was the sound of my breathing, quite noisy. It took awhile for me to fully recover in the cooldown. Great workout! Skipping is not my best activity. Some of the Blitzers are very good at skipping, I may get better at it. Will have to get lessons from my children. They will find it very amusing I am sure, lol.
So things are going well and I am excited

Bench Press, Nutrition and Easter is coming!
I am feeling really good. I have remained focused with my nutrition and after my nutrition session yesterday there is more to learn. I have found that when Josh says 'my hands are here' during a bench press he isn't kidding. I gave him an adrenaline kick when my body went I've had enough and my arms just dropped. He caught the bar before it could do any damage to my face or chest and I am eternally grateful.
Since Josh has started training me I have to say I am sore which means my body is changing. In fact I quite enjoy this feeling as I am excited to see how far I can go in this 12weeks. Little tips, hints and just some things Josh says have been clicking into place in my mind and propelling me forward on this journey. Thanks Josh!
I will not be derailed by Easter as I have my goals in place and getting into those size 10 jeans means more to me than a chocolate Easter egg. I also have Erik's birthday party to contend with on the Sunday. I will just take my shake, water and pepsi max with me. Yes I have to admit I am a pepsi max addict. I get my 2-3 litres of water in every day but I also drink pepsi max. I tell myself it is sugar free, calorie free so what is the harm. I need the caffeine as I can't drink coffee at the moment as all my drinks have to be calorie free and I can't stand black coffee.

One week down, 11 weeks to go
Well I have had a very successful week. I remained focused and stuck to my nutrition and exercise plan. There were plenty of delicious treats at work which I declined. Looking at those chocolates and cakes I know they will only delay my progress if I eat them. I cannot afford that delay and so I didn't even feel tempted to taste them. A big positive step forward for me!
I have been putting myself first and a couple of times in the past week I have actually excused myself from places so that I could go and eat my planned meal. A couple of friends think I am crazy and I tell them that I am not crazy just determined to take care of my health and that means the fat must be shed.
Today i went shopping and bought a top in a size 14 which is a new size for me as my upper half is normally a size 16 due to the size of my chest. Of course I was in my big daggy clothes and of course the only time you ever see people you know is when your attire is not the best. It didn't help that they were both dressed very nicely, not a hair out of place! One of those moments when you wish the floor would open up and swallow you or better yet they get temporary blindness and can't see you, lol
Yesterday I signed up for the Nail Can Hill Race with my daughter Lauren. We have been practising running/walking the hills so that we can beat last years time. It is great to have my daughter do it with me. Gives us time to chat and catch up on what is happening in her life so that I can keep those communication lines open.
I am still quite sore today so I know my body is going through change. When the going got hard at training this morning I pictured me in those size 10 jeans. I can see it clearly and I know I will reach this goal!

Hill Sprints and Family
Cold, but committed I went to Blitz training and by the time we had finished the sun was shining. Such a great start to the morning with hill sprints, push ups and an ab workout. As I sprinted up that hill numerous times I just kept visualising me in a size 10 pair of jeans, very motivating!
After enjoying a fabulous breakfast of eggs, mushrooms, capsicum, spinach and flaxmeal with a slice of gluten free bread I headed out to my parents place with my shakes and lunch packed. As they live on a farm it was great to walk around the paddocks with my mum in the sunshine. A nice time to catch up on the gossip and what my three children got up to whilst they had been staying with her and dad. My youngest boy can be a challenge and he did push my mum's patience to its limits.
Well tonight I can definitely say my hamstrings, calf muscles and quads are sore. That delayed soreness after some hard workouts is great as it signifies change and that is what I want to see!
Six days down, 11 weeks and 1 day to go and I remain focused:)
My next aim is to make a couple of the recipes from the new cookbook that comes with the program I am on. I tend to eat the same food and so this will be different and hopefully tasty. I might just get hubby to cook it as he is the chef in our house!

Another day on my journey
Well I had a great morning yesterday, meeting up with a dear friend and spending a couple of hours chatting and shopping.
After that I went to work and had a busy shift with lots of walking which will help move me closer to my goals.
I am eating my 6 meals a day with plenty of vegetables. Three of those meals are shakes and my new protein powder 'chocolate supreme' is divine. Not missing chocolate at all:)
Went to lower body training this morning with Josh. New exercises for me and I really felt the leg curl and calf raise.Josh pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of and as usual I am grateful to him. Imagine putting up with a cranky nurse at 7am after she had finished an evening shift, lol.
Anyway I have my meals all ready for work and my steak is nearly cooked for lunch. I think 'fail to plan = plan to fail' is so true. So I am planning my days the night before so there are no excuses.

Day 3, Week 1
Well another day has come and gone and I have remained true to my nutrition and training plan. I have to reduce the number of intense exercise days I do for the next couple of weeks so I got to walk on my treadmill this morning whilst the rest of the Blitzers had to brave the cold. Quite boring walking on the treadmill with no one to talk to. Miss the camaraderie of Blitz where everyone encourages each other.
I was then off to work where I made sure I had my shakes and meal so that I had no reason to make poor choices. I am quite sore from my training yesterday with Josh. I quite like the soreness as it lets me know my body is changing for the better. Just don't ask me to reach up high for anything for a couple of days!

Day 2, Week 1
What a day! Cold and wet, not my favourite weather. Went to my first MP training. Lots to learn. Got introduced to the 'beastie' which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I can already feel the delayed soreness in my chest and back that comes from a great weight workout.
My measurements got taken and they are not looking the best. On the positive side this will be the last time my measurements are that bad. The photo session showed a few sides of me that I will not be sharing at this point, too embarrassing. Again it is a starting point and I need to be realistic and have something to look at later in this process to see how far I have come. Maybe then I will post them and my starting measurements.
Nutritionally I have had a great day. Thank goodness I love vegetables!
Only 11 weeks and 5 days to go!:)

Day 1, week 1
Woke up early to head off to Metabolic Blitz fitness testing as a 12 week group training commenced under the expertise of Josh from Physique Essentials. This group is filled with wonderful people all giving their best. I was so excited as I got my MP Manual and have been doing some light reading today. So much great information, so much to learn!
Nutrition has been great and I am focused on the thought of 'OMG only 11weeks and 6 days to go'. I think having this attitude from the start will be good for me and keep me focused on my goals.
Goals:
1. On May 10th 2011 I have an 85cm waist or less and I can fit into my Graduation Dress.
2. On June 27th 2011 I am so happy and thankful now that I can fit perfectly into my size 10 jeans. My stomach is flat and I can see muscle definition. Other people are noticing my new physique and complementing me. Hearing this makes me feel fantastic. I feel like a winner!
I have set some challenging goals to keep me motivated and moving forward. I have not worn my Graduation Dress in 6 years. I am a tight size 14 now, so size 10 will be fantastic!
I am so grateful that I have friends on this journey who will not only support and guide me but also give the necessary 'talk' if I falter. I am also grateful that Josh is taking the time to instruct and train me during this time.

Just getting started
Wow I actually managed to set up a blog. This is a first for me and it is going to be fun to journal my life as I begin an intense new training regime under the care of my trainer Josh from Physique Essentials, Wodonga. I am super excited and one part scared.
I am going to blog my goals and my actions towards achieving those goals. I hope this added accountability will help spur me on to greater heights and the final reward of knowing that I have done my very best.
